March 2024

Hello everyone and welcome to our new website!

Hello everyone and welcome to our new website! Thank you very much for visiting us. While much of the world’s focus has shifted to social media (Instagram: @johnnyweirskatingacademy), we consider this our home base and will be regularly updating the site to include upcoming events and news, as well as a portal for scheduling lessons with our team.

Since beginning our work last year, we have been so touched and thankful that so many skaters and their families have sought our expertise and experience, if you are among them, thank you. Every day on the ice with our skaters brings us so much joy and it is a wonder to watch them grow and succeed. We have also been thrilled by the interest in our clinics that have brought hundreds of people to the ice since we began. We also need to recognize the efforts of our students families for their dedication, understanding and support. We have the mentality that it takes a village to raise a child and we are proud to run an academy where everyone is supportive and kind which in turn, offers the skaters the opportunity to thrive and be the best they can be.

Our coaches have been busy off the ice as well as on it. Coach Misha, after a long period of preparation, passed his driver’s license test on the first try and is now motoring with the best of them. Coach Megan has recently rescued a beautiful husky and is preparing for her wedding in April and we all wish her and her fiancé Phil, a joyous and happy day as well as a future filled with love and laughter. Coach Johnny has been traveling a lot since January for commentary work and to film some television shows as well as to coach for US Figure Skating’s National Development Camp, but every possible day off, has been jetting home to see his skaters but knows, as he is away working, that his students are in good hands with Coach Megan and Coach Misha. Mama Patti spends a lot of time at the computer and on the phone scheduling, organizing, and negotiating for the best future for all of our skaters and our team and we could not accomplish much of anything without her. She is also hunting for a dress for Coach Megan’s upcoming nuptials.

In the coming months, there will be some exciting changes coming our way that will benefit our athletes and allow our team to train in the most practical and attentive way. Spring and Summer are seasons of growth in nature and so to, for our Academy. We look forward to sharing all the news here so be sure to keep an eye out for our newsletter for all the latest! Next up on the clinic menu are seminars in New York City, Virginia and Pennsylvania so please check the site for all the information. The final event of the figure skating season, the World Figure Skating Championships in Montreal, start on March 18 and will be broadcast on NBC and their family of networks so please tune in to hear Coach Johnny’s commentary and to get inspired by the best skaters in the world.

We thank you again for visiting our new site and we look forward to hearing from you all! Thank you to everyone who has supported us over recent months and we wish each of you, a wonderful Spring! Thank you.
